BOOK RECIPE NUMBER 756:"BIG BEAUTIFUL SUGAR COOKIES"!!!!!!!!

Anyway, back to recipes and great cooking.
Like all talented amazing chefs, I like to get everything ready to go before I start and so I put all of the ingredients out ahead of time in cute little bowls and dishes. I've shown Mum how to do this and she says it's a much more organized way of cooking than how she does it. Of course it's easier for me because I convince my brother Cosmos to wash everything up which I naturally hate to do. (I kind of hint if he cleans up I'll let him hang out with me and my friend Amandine who he really secretly likes, if you know what I mean).
Mum says that cleaning up as you go is part of cooking, but really and truly my mind is elsewhere and I have to concentrate on higher things like being a great chef. (In fact Mum isn't really that brilliant at washing up either as you can tell from the messy picture above which is from last night when she was in the middle of making dinner!).
OK! HERE IS THE
FANTABULOUS, DELICIOSO, MELT-IN-YOUR-MOUTH, GOTTA-LOVE-THEM
SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE!!!!!!
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon milk
Powdered sugar, for rolling out dough
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Put it to one side. Put the butter and sugar in the big bowl of an electric stand mixer and beat it all up until it is light in color and really pretty. Then add the egg and milk and beat it to combine everything. Now you put the mixer on a low speed, gradually add flour, and beat it until mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl. Divide the dough in half, wrap it in waxed paper, and then put it in the refridgerator for 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Now this part is super important so DO NOT skip over it!!!!
Sprinkle the surface where you will roll out dough with powdered sugar. Take out 1 wrapped pack of dough from refrigerator at a time, sprinkle the rolling pin with powdered sugar, and roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thick. Move the dough around and check underneath a lot of times to make sure it is not sticking. If dough has warmed during rolling, place the cold cookie sheet on top for 10 minutes to chill. REMEMBER COOKIE DOUGH LIKES TO BE SHIVERY AND COLD!
Cut it into cute shapes and place them at least 1-inch apart on greased baking sheet, parchment, or silicone baking mat, and bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are just beginning to turn brown around the edges.
NOW BIG ALERT chefs out there... DO NOT LET THE DOUGH GET BROWN!!! Then the cookies become hard and horrible and gross. AND also remember to rotate the cookie sheet halfway through baking time. OK? Now you can take it out and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2 minutes and THEN move them to complete cooling on wire rack.
NOW... you can make the cookies really pretty and add icing and sprinkles. Totally fun! Totally delicious! Totally Easy Peasy!
