Membership

BPRSNY is one of the few outlets available where African American practitioners and industry leaders gather in one setting to connect, communicate and collaborate. Members share ideas, explore best practices, examine relevant industry and civic issues and stay connected with like minds, spread important news and information among our community and the world-at-large. 

Full Membership - $50 

Full membership is open to persons actively engaged in a full time communications career. This shall include, but is not limited to, working in the communications field in both the public and private sectors in the following capacities: Public Relations, Publicity, Special Event Management, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, Public Information, Marketing Communications, Media Relations, New Media (Websites/Internet), Corporate/Crisis Communications, Community Relations/Outreach, Public Affairs, Government Relations, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Organizational Development and Institutional Advancement.

Candidates for Full Membership must be engaged in the above functions for a period of one year or have completed a degree or certified course in a public relations related curriculum at an accredited school. Full time employment in a public relations function as described above is required. Full members may serve on committees, hold office and participate in all organized functions. Membership is renewed annually.

Student Membership - $35

Student members must be currently be enrolled in an institution of higher learning, majoring in the study of communications, public relations or marketing and hold a valid student identification card. Student members may serve on committees, attend meetings and attend all organization functions. They may not hold office except by temporary appointment by the BPRSNY President (not to extend a three month period at one time) and with full concurrence of the Board of Directors. Membership is renewed annually.
