New York, NY – November 2008 - BPRSNY teamed up with the New York Chapter of the National Association of Market Developers for their November 2008 Marketing Monday event which focused on Sports Marketing, Promotions and public relations events. Held at the Manhattan offices of Burson-Marsteller, the event focused on topics including: Sports Asset Strategy & Acquisition, Media and PR Leveraging, Sponsorship Proposals and Relationships. Panelists at the event included publicist Jackie Rowe, Quency Phillips of Fuzion: Marketing Management and Entertainment and Joel A. Mahan and Pedro J. Hazel, Jr. of Manhattan Neighborhood Network's talk show “On The Sportslines.”

"THE LIVING ROOM" AT CITY COLLEGE, NEW YORK
New York – NY -- October 2008 - Called “the 20th century’s most influential public relations figure” by PR Week Magazine, Harold Burson (center) , shared his experiences as the founding chairman of the largest PR firm in the nation - Burson–Marsteller during a recent forum called The Living Room Experience® (LRE) – “Where Meaningful Chats Change Lives” which took place at the City College of New York. The unique forum, hosted by LRE founder Alicia Evans (left), an adjunct professor of the college, was attended by students and professionals including BPRSNY chapter co-president Gordon K. Balkcom (right).

BLACK PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY- NEW YORK HOLDS 2008 SUMMER MIXER IN MANHATTAN
New York, NY, July 2008 -- CNN analyst and political operative Jamal Simmons (center) offered insight on the upcoming presidential election during the recent Black Public Relations Society - New York (BPRSNY) summer membership mixer in Manhattan. Simmons revealed how PR pros can become agents of change in their own community and shared tips on how to get out the vote out during this year's exciting Presidential election. A graduate of Morehouse College with a master's in public policy from Harvard University, Simmons shared his back story on governmental affairs and encouraged others to flex their political muscles. Simmons has worked on five continents in support of important political figures and global issues.

BPRSNY Co-Hosts "Backstage Pass" Entertainment Career Forum
New York, NY -– May 2007 - BPRSNY partnered with the Explorers Program of the Boy Scouts of America for “Backstage Pass: Behind the Scenes of the Entertainment Industry” – a career education program which took place at Hunter College in Manhattan. The event featured a career fair which included representatives from global advertising giant McCann-Erickson and The New York Road Runners Club and later a panel discussion featuring top companies, agencies and networks in the entertainment and mass media industries.
