The Black Public Relations Society- New York (BPRSNY) is a 501 ( c ) 3 nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to the enhancement and exploration of the most current issues concerning African-American public relations practitioners.  BPRSNY members are part of a new breed of influential leaders who navigate multicultural communities 24/7, offer in-depth insight on today’s New America and work to make a difference on the home front and as citizens of the world.

BPRSNY, also known as “Beepers NY,” presents an array of educational, thought-provoking forums and networking opportunities, primarily, but not exclusively, aimed at African-American practitioners throughout the tri-state area.  Sessions are open to members and nonmembers in the field of public relations, marketing, advertising and communications. Our core, tri-state area membership steadily climbs each month. This network is comprised of opinion leaders, influencers and media throughout the U.S. and abroad.  BPRS has earned a fine reputation of hosting informative panels featuring top professionals in the field who have readily shared their experiences for the upliftment of the entire group.  Forum topics have featured crisis management, diversity issues, health care, stress management, political campaign communications, audience development and promoting the performing arts.

Further, members serve as key liaisons to influential constituent audiences, corporate America, leadership groups, institutions, government, public policy, entertainment and the arts.

Membership Privileges

Each membership (full/student) is extremely important to BPRSNY.  Membership covers fees for ongoing professional development seminars, special events and related operational expenses, including correspondence, office services and catering.  The executive leadership team, committee chairs, meeting planners and the organization’s president all serve in a volunteer capacity, donating their time, talent and service – which is of immeasurable value and support to the group.

Your membership insures BPRSNY continues essential outreach for keeping our community connected and remains a viable entity for bringing you custom tailored forums and much more.  In addition, membership affords the opportunity to contribute and perform in a leadership capacity.

• Full Members can hold office and serve on committees.

• Full and Student Members will be entitled to attend BPRSNY events at no charge or reduced charge, depending on the event.

• Full and Student Members will have exclusive access to the job bank.

• Full Members will be allowed to have their company and/or professional profiles posted on the BPRSNY Web site for promotional and networking purposes.

• Full Members will be allowed to write articles on issues in PR and media and have those articles on posted on the BPRSNY Web site. Full Members will also be allowed to post articles or links to articles that they have written or that have been written about them for local or national publications.

• Full Members will be allowed to propose to conduct seminars on business issues useful to the BPRSNY membership.  These might include seminars on planning a marketing campaign, improving customer service, finding new clients, starting a business, etc.  Any Full Member conducting a seminar would be allowed to market and/or sell their own products and services at the event.

• The Board of Directors will review and approve proposed seminars.

• Full Members and Student Members will be entitled to career consulting sessions during their membership year, four sessions during the membership year for Full Members, two sessions during the membership year for Student Members (for example).
